Supporting the fashion industry is all well and good… but supporting local fashion businesses and local designers is even better! 🙂 I’d like to introduce you guys to a wonderful Perth business, The HH Boutique! They opened their online doors earlier this year, and I was lucky enough to be invited along to their launch party for some sneaky drinks and nibbles, and a runway show to get a glimpse at what they are all about. As a designer myself I’m such a fan of what they do – they work with local designers, listing their pieces for sale as part of their boutique. All the garments are made to order, so when you place an order for a pretty piece from The HH Boutique online store the garment is made and shipped to you by the designer! We have so much great design talent in Perth, and I’m so pleased that a business like the HH Boutique exists to provide designers with a platform to sell their work! 🙂

This skirt I’m wearing is a beautifully crafted satin piece by local designer Manon Raath. Manon hand-dyed this fabric herself, isn’t is gorgeous!? <3 I really love the ombre effect of the dye… It’s like I’m wearing a cloudy sky wrapped around myself! Garments that have had that hand-done touch always feel better to wear in my opinion, and this skirt is no exception… It feels great wearing something that has been sewn locally and that you know the circumstances behind its making! With the dominance of fast fashion in todays society, its nice to be able to own pieces like this that you know are made in an ethical way. I paired it with a cosy turtleneck and some fun accessories (including this little bag I bought secondhand and customized with pom poms and little bits ‘n pieces) to give it an arty, punk twist.

The other piece of HH Boutique goodness I’m wearing in the photos above is a fab pom pom top designed and made by Stephanie Barrow. She hand knitted this piece and made the pom poms herself – you can really feel and see the love that went into creating this top! Its impossible to show in photos, but the pom poms bounce a little when you move around in it too – its so adorable! 🙂 I dressed it down by layering it over a white tee and throwing on some black skinnies and Dr Martens boots, although I can imagine this top looking gorgeous dressed up for a night out also! Needless to say I’ll definitely be rocking it on my next night out to give it a whirl in a more dressed up context! I can picture it now… Some flared black pants, cute strappy heels, a black beret, and some SUPER colourful creative makeup… 😀

A side note: Is my current obsession with pom poms obvious in these photos, haha?? 😉
