To get you off to a start with your shopping I’ve put together a little wishlist of some of my favourite bits and pieces on Shopbop at the moment! 🙂
Recently I was lucky enough to be able to attend the ‘Australian International Tattoo Expo’ here in Perth. I dropped by on Sunday the 18th of September (the final day of the expos three day run), and armed with my ‘media’ badge and my trusty camera I went around and enjoyed the sights and everything that the expo had to offer! I snapped photos of anything especially colourful and fun to share with you all – here are some of my favourite shots from the day!
Perth artist Carly Baggins at work.
Colourful clip in coontails at the Onyx Hair Crew stand!
Quirky prints by Luke Pritchard Tattoo Artist.
Sparkly treasures at Benjamin Bones.
Work in progress at Tattoo Zone.
Details of work by Fergus Simms.
Work by artist Sandra Ovenden.
Pops of colour at China Zone Tattoo.
Loved this display at Sonny Joe Williamsons stand!
Jimmy Irons at work.
This rainbow jellyfish girl by artist Dominique Hill immediately caught my eye!
Met this lovely lady while photographing Jimmy Irons… She was so bright and happy! (And I adored her pretty pink head scarf) 🙂
Pyrohex lighting up the stage.
Shelly d’Inferno of Pyrohex.
Pyrohex… So many flames!

Supporting the fashion industry is all well and good… but supporting local fashion businesses and local designers is even better! 🙂 I’d like to introduce you guys to a wonderful Perth business, The HH Boutique! They opened their online doors earlier this year, and I was lucky enough to be invited along to their launch party for some sneaky drinks and nibbles, and a runway show to get a glimpse at what they are all about. As a designer myself I’m such a fan of what they do – they work with local designers, listing their pieces for sale as part of their boutique. All the garments are made to order, so when you place an order for a pretty piece from The HH Boutique online store the garment is made and shipped to you by the designer! We have so much great design talent in Perth, and I’m so pleased that a business like the HH Boutique exists to provide designers with a platform to sell their work! 🙂
This skirt I’m wearing is a beautifully crafted satin piece by local designer Manon Raath. Manon hand-dyed this fabric herself, isn’t is gorgeous!? <3 I really love the ombre effect of the dye… It’s like I’m wearing a cloudy sky wrapped around myself! Garments that have had that hand-done touch always feel better to wear in my opinion, and this skirt is no exception… It feels great wearing something that has been sewn locally and that you know the circumstances behind its making! With the dominance of fast fashion in todays society, its nice to be able to own pieces like this that you know are made in an ethical way. I paired it with a cosy turtleneck and some fun accessories (including this little bag I bought secondhand and customized with pom poms and little bits ‘n pieces) to give it an arty, punk twist.
The other piece of HH Boutique goodness I’m wearing in the photos above is a fab pom pom top designed and made by Stephanie Barrow. She hand knitted this piece and made the pom poms herself – you can really feel and see the love that went into creating this top! Its impossible to show in photos, but the pom poms bounce a little when you move around in it too – its so adorable! 🙂 I dressed it down by layering it over a white tee and throwing on some black skinnies and Dr Martens boots, although I can imagine this top looking gorgeous dressed up for a night out also! Needless to say I’ll definitely be rocking it on my next night out to give it a whirl in a more dressed up context! I can picture it now… Some flared black pants, cute strappy heels, a black beret, and some SUPER colourful creative makeup… 😀
A side note: Is my current obsession with pom poms obvious in these photos, haha?? 😉
T-shirts: Neon Talk
Skirts: American Apparel
Puffer Jacket: Lazy Oaf
Faux Fur Jacket: (thrifted)
Frilly Socks: Lazy Oaf
How cute are these ‘Bubble Gum’ retro-style tees from Neon Talk?! I love anything pretty and pastel, so of course when they sent these pretty pieces my way I just had to whip up a fun, super sweet pastel shoot to make them *POP*! (And I will take any excuse I can to eat lots of lollies…. 🙂 ).
Hope you guys like these photos – a studio set up is something a bit different for me as usually I shoot out and about on location. However the gloomy, stormy weather we’ve been having in Perth lately caused me to think outside my usual box and do something new and different to my norm. I’ll have to do more studio styled shoots in future I think, I really love how these photos have turned out! 🙂
Neon Talk have one of my favourite Instagram pages (@neontalk) – they post blast-from-the-past photos of 1980s/early 1990s goodness, which I can’t get enough of! They also have an online shop (neontalk.com) where they sell new retro-style clothing, including these funky tops in lots of other colourways and collab pieces featuring artwork by some awesome retro artists.
Neon Talk have also been kind enough to hook you guys up with a code to score you free worldwide shipping. So go take a peek at the rest of their stuff (lots of which is on sale at the moment!) and feel the nostalgic vibes, hehe!
Use the code ‘katehannah’ at neontalk.com to get your new retro goodies delivered to you for free 😀
Recently I was contacted by the team at Festival Fashion to see if I would like to be involved in a special design collaboration to raise funds for Young Minds, a UK based charity providing mental health support to children and young people. Of course I said yes – how could I pass up the chance to support such a great cause?! 🙂
I’m so excited to be able to reveal to you the top I designed for this collaboration! I wanted my top to reflect my love of rainbow colours, so I created this vibrant falling heart design to be printed on an American Apparel top. As well as looking totally *FABULOUS* in this top, you can feel great knowing that 50% of the profit from the sale of this design goes to supporting Young Minds and the wonderful work that they do! 🙂

How amazing is this sequinned dress from Motel?! <3 I feel like a mermaid whenever I put it on, its so slinky and sparkly! Especially with my new hair colour, I’m totally channelling some Ariel vibes… Hot pink is close enough to red to count, right? 😛
I paired this pretty piece with some colour in the form of my favourite Lazy Oaf jacket (P.S. a link to a similar, not sold out style is above! I always get people asking me where to get this jacket, and now I have an available alternative to be able to point you all towards, yay! 🙂 ), and a variety of sparkly and fluffy accessories! Colourful, textural accessories really compliment the sequins and make this dress *POP*, although I imagine it would also look great pared down with some more minimal accessories for a different look… Such a versatile and fun little frock!
