How cute are these ‘Bubble Gum’ retro-style tees from Neon Talk?! I love anything pretty and pastel, so of course when they sent these pretty pieces my way I just had to whip up a fun, super sweet pastel shoot to make them *POP*! (And I will take any excuse I can to eat lots of lollies…. 🙂 ).

Hope you guys like these photos – a studio set up is something a bit different for me as usually I shoot out and about on location. However the gloomy, stormy weather we’ve been having in Perth lately caused me to think outside my usual box and do something new and different to my norm. I’ll have to do more studio styled shoots in future I think, I really love how these photos have turned out! 🙂

Neon Talk have one of my favourite Instagram pages (@neontalk) – they post blast-from-the-past photos of 1980s/early 1990s goodness, which I can’t get enough of! They also have an online shop ( where they sell new retro-style clothing, including these funky tops in lots of other colourways and collab pieces featuring artwork by some awesome retro artists.

Neon Talk have also been kind enough to hook you guys up with a code to score you free worldwide shipping. So go take a peek at the rest of their stuff (lots of which is on sale at the moment!) and feel the nostalgic vibes, hehe!

Use the code ‘katehannah’ at to get your new retro goodies delivered to you for free 😀

‘The Kate Hannah Top’ – A collaboration with Festival Fashion and the Young Minds charity

Recently I was contacted by the team at Festival Fashion to see if I would like to be involved in a special design collaboration to raise funds for Young Minds, a UK based charity providing mental health support to children and young people. Of course I said yes – how could I pass up the chance to support such a great cause?! 🙂

I’m so excited to be able to reveal to you the top I designed for this collaboration! I wanted my top to reflect my love of rainbow colours, so I created this vibrant falling heart design to be printed on an American Apparel top. As well as looking totally *FABULOUS* in this top, you can feel great knowing that 50% of the profit from the sale of this design goes to supporting Young Minds and the wonderful work that they do! 🙂

Be sure to tag me in Instagram photos of you rocking your top – I’d love to see how you style it!!

I paired this pretty piece with some colour in the form of my favourite Lazy Oaf jacket (P.S. a link to a similar, not sold out style is above! I Don’t Always Wear Black, But…

Jacket: Tibbs and Bones (available at
Playsuit: T by Alexander Wang (available at
Bag: KENZO (SOLD OUT – other KENZO bags on Shopbop HERE)
Boots: Public Desire (available at
Sunglasses: Wildfox (CURRENTLY SOLD OUT – other Wildfox sunglasses on Shopbop HERE)

… when I do you can bet theres a POP of colour worn with it!! 🙂

This lovely T by Alexander Wang playsuit I recently got from Shopbop is one of the few black items of clothing I own (I think the only other black thing in my wardrobe is a pair of black jeans! :O ). I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it online – simple and well made, the perfect piece to use as a base for creating colourful outfits! These HUGE Wildfox sunglasses are another recent acquisition of mine from Shopbop. They make such a great piece of statement eyewear, and I like them even more with my new shorter hair do!

I threw my new favourite faux-fur jacket over the top to add some texture to the outfit (its also available to purchase in a rainbow colourway by the way, HERE), and popped this cute KENZO bag over my shoulder for a touch more pink prettiness. My first ever piece of KENZO after always admiring their garments/accessories… I think this will be the start of a little KENZO collection, hehe! 😀

These Public Desire boots are some of my favourite winter shoes, I adore how the grey patent faux leather and perspex heel update the classic winter ankle boot into something more exciting! Interesting textures (like these shiny boots or my furry jacket!) are the perfect way to bring an outfit to life – I’ve popped links below to a few fab pieces for you to have a peek at if you want to inject some textural goodness into your own wardrobe! 🙂

‘Queer Alchemy’ Collection Lookbook

Today at university I presented my final collection of garments for one of my classes – it was my last presentation for the semester, now I’m on break for a few weeks before starting my final semester and therefore my graduate collection… Eeep!! 🙂 This collection is presented as menswear, although is more-so unisex. I hand-dyed the linen fabric rainbow myself, as well as making all my own bias binding, and hand-sewing on all the sequins… Hope you enjoy taking a peek at the end result of many sleepless nights and long days working hard, hehe! 😀

My work aims to be a positivity commentary on and celebration of the increased queer visibility within fashion and the broader mainstream community. To communicate my theme and concept I will be subverting the suit by ‘queering’ it. By drawing on influences including historical Dandyism, queer Campness/’fabulousness’, the Club Kids of the 1980s/90s, ‘Mr Showmanship’ Liberace, and the current movement in fashion for queer inclusion/representation I will turn suiting into a means of communicating a positive, celebratory message of queerness. Design elements that are strong cultural signifiers of queer pride (such as sequins and a rainbow colour palette) will be used to create a collection that is vibrant and flamboyant, revelling in the love of excess, sensuous textures, and fabulous artiface that queer Campness entails. I will employ garment silhouettes that have a slouchy fit, obscuring the figure beneath, in combination with elaborate detailing. This will contribute to a menswear collection that is gender-queer in appearance, blending masculine, feminine, and everything in between and outside of. It will be a visual potion fusing elements of queer culture, Campness, and suiting in a wizards cauldron of fashion… The result: A magical celebration of queer visibility, representation, and empowerment.

My collection will be entitled ‘Queer Alchemy’ in reference to an idea I read about in the work of Andrew John Buzny, referring to the seemingly magical ability of the queer community to transform shame into pride.

Rialto Jean Project (and some Furby fun!)

Jeans: Rialto Jean Project (available at
Jacket: Tibbs & Bones (available at
‘Be Curious’ Shirt: Curious Birdy (available at
Pin: Tibbs & Bones X Elfriede (available at
Beanie: Tibbs & Bones X Elfriede (available at
Boots: Dr Martens
Furby Backpack: Vintage

I’m so in love with these creative jeans by Rialto Jean Project from Shopbop (this particular pair are a Shopbop exclusive style!)! As well as looking awesome, the Rialto Denim Project also embodies so many things that I as a fashion student/designer value – a slow fashion approach, hand crafted details, and up-cycling. What makes these jeans and other denim pieces so fab is that they are made using vintage denim, and then hand painted by artist Erin Feniger in her studio – a little piece of wearable art! Looking down and seeing paint that you know was applied with love by a passionate artist gives

As well as this pair of jeans, Shopbop also stock a variety of other Rialto Denim Project pieces, here are a few of my other faves! <3

  1. Basic Distressed Boyfriend Jean
  2. Vintage Sweatshirt
  3. Vintage Overalls With Daisies
  4. I Love You Boyfriend Jeans

I paired my Rialto Jean Project jeans with some fun Furby pieces from Tibbs & Bones! My big faux fur jacket, Furby pin, and matching Furby beanie are all from them… AND they make this jacket in a rainbow colourway too, so if you’re
one of the many people who always eye off my sold out Lazy Oaf rainbow furry jacket you should get on over to Tibbs & Bones and get yourself one of their rainbow faux furs!! 🙂
